It's Vax Time Yep, it is the vaccination time of year. Last week, I got the latest covid shot in the left arm, and for the first time, the senior extra-strength flu shot in the right arm. That was Wednesday morning. By evening, I could tell that my immune system was aware that I was fucking with it. Even better, my primary care physician (PCP) had "reminded me" that it would be best to take nothing for the symptoms, in order for the vaccine(s) to yield their best immune system "training." Yeah. I got maybe three hours of very broken…

Fall Chill Dog photobombing the pellet stove We hit "meteorological fall" at the beginning of the month. A couple of weeks ago, we hit "Brian fall", which is, for me, the first overnight low temperature below 50°F. But it's been staying fairly chilly out, and the low temps inside the house have been hitting 65, which I'm not fond of. Waning Days of Summer We're still short on rain but August has otherwise been reasonably mild for most of the month. Today it's mid-70's and low humidity, so I've got windows open and a light breeze pushing fresh air through the house. Eating well, etc... Good news, I'm not a total slacker when it comes to mealtimes. I made myself a decent breakfast this morning. Eggs with seeded and diced jalapeño, a bit of black pepper and parmesan on top, sides of buttered plain bagel and a nectarine... and coffee, of course. The coffee is a Honduras El Sauce Alejandro Guzman from Sweet Maria's, roasted to Full City plus. Very, very tasty. Before that I walked the dog, however. I'm getting the dog out early in these hot days of August. Thereafter, I did some cleaning and vacuumed the main floor of…

THappy Birthday, Barbara Today is my sister's birthday, and while I thoughtfully didn't call her early from three time zones ahead, we did chat today, which was nice. While I don't have trouble finding the words to describe my situation, I'm continuing to struggle with the loss. I'm still motivationally challenged, for sure. The things that must be done are getting done, but not much else is. I still have to finish cleaning out the basement, and move the woodshop gear over, and I guess that will happen whenever it does. My sleeping patterns are still pretty broken, I'm awake…
